WhereTag IV
Multimode RTLS Asset Tag

The First Multimode RTLS Asset Tag that Combines the Open Standard of ISO/IEC 24730-2 with IEEE 802.11 for a Complete Asset Visibility Solution

The versatile WhereTag IV is an asset tag which can be configured to match specific location application requirements.  It enables WhereNet to provide fully integrated, "best of breed", Real Time Locating System (RTLS) solutions. These solutions can select or combine WhereNet’s high precision Time Difference Of Arrival (TDOA) ISO/IEC 24730-2 technology with Cisco's Unified Wireless Network, utilizing the Cisco Wireless Location Appliance. The WhereTag IV is compliant with both the Cisco Compatible Extensions (CCX) for 802.11 Tags and the ISO/IEC 24730-2 RTLS standard.

The WhereTag IV enables optimum solutions for enterprise-wide tracking of assets, personnel and WIP by allowing them to be identified and located by the WhereNet RTLS solutions while seamlessly roaming through multiple location technologies. The WhereTag IV "blinks" an RF transmission at pre-programmed rates ranging from 1 second to multiple hours between blinks. The application-matched infrastructure receives these transmissions and utilizes the appropriate algorithms to determine the location of the tag. The WhereTag IV can be used in ISO/IEC 24730-2 mode to provide locations as accurate as 1.5 meters in applications requiring high precision and resolution.

The WhereTag IV power output is configurable for the application environment. It operates in the globally accepted 2.4GHz frequency band and transmits spread spectrum signals in accordance with the ISO/IEC 24730-2 and the IEEE 802.11b standards. The use of spread spectrum technology provides extremely long-range signal detection; in excess of 1750 meters in ISO/IEC 24730-2 mode outdoors. The combination of low power output and cutting edge battery technology allows the WhereTag IV to operate for long periods of time with no maintenance. Battery life can be up to 7 years in the ISO/IEC 24730-2 mode and up to 5 years in the IEEE 802.11b CCX mode and multimode depending upon blink rate.

The WhereTag IV can be triggered by a low frequency magnetic signal from a WherePort exciter to modify the pre-programmed blink rate and to indicate proximity (localization) to a specific WherePort. The WhereTag IV blink rate and transmission type can also be modified by the WherePort to change between ISO/IEC 24730, CCX, or multimode transmissions. It can also trigger immediate location-specific messaging/alarms within WhereNet, or third party applications by incorporating specific information transmitted by the WherePort. The WherePort exciter can be configured to trigger the WhereTag IV asset tag from a distance of 1 meter up to 8 meters away.

The WhereTag IV enables WhereNet, the leader in wireless location solutions, to provide technology and solutions tailored to match our customers’ application requirements.
